The meaning of the yarn count and density of the fabric may not be very clear to the non-fabric industry or those who are just entering the industry. Today, Haining Mingmao Textile will explain the definition of fabric yarn count and density for you.

Yarn count: Yarn count is a way of expressing yarn, usually expressed in English count (S) in "fixed weight system" (this calculation method is divided into metric count and imperial count), namely : Under the condition of a fixed moisture regain (8.5%), in a one-pound spun yarn, how many skeins each skein length is 840 yards, that is, how many counts. The count is related to the length and weight of the yarn. For example, one catty of cotton is made of 30 yarns with a length of 1 meter, that is 30 yarns; a catty of cotton is made of 40 yarns with a length of 1 meter, that is 40 yarns; 1 catty of cotton is made of 60 yarns. For 1 meter of yarn, that is 60 yarns. Therefore, the higher the yarn count, the finer the yarn, the better the uniformity, the thinner the woven cloth, and the softer and more comfortable the cloth is. Obviously, the higher the count of the cloth, the higher the quality of the raw material is required, and the higher the requirements for the spinning mill and the weaving mill, the higher the cost of the cloth. Generally speaking, more than 30S is called high count yarn, (20S-30S) is medium count yarn, and below 20S is low count yarn. (Ps: 840 yards is about 768 meters, 1 pound is about 0.45 kg)

Density: refers to the number of warps and wefts arranged per square inch, also known as warp and weft density. It is generally expressed as "the number of warp yarns * the number of weft yarns". Several common densities such as 110*90, 128*68, 65*78, 133*73, textile fabrics indicate that the warp yarns per square inch are 110, 128, 65, and 133 respectively; the weft yarns are 90 and 68 respectively. Roots, 78 roots, 73 roots.
